There are many ways to understand a life.
Hi, I’m Claire. My approach to therapy is relational, curious, and grounded in the belief that there are many ways to make sense of who we are and how we came to be here. I draw from attachment-focused, experiential, psychodynamic, existential, and evidence-based approaches, while paying attention to the patterns, relationships, histories, and larger systems that shape your experience. Therapy with me is collaborative: we can be thoughtful about what hurts without reducing you to a diagnosis or treating every difficult part of being human as something that needs to be fixed.
As a Licensed Mental Health Counselor with Diagnostic Privilege (LMHC-D) in New York, I work with adults and couples, with a particular focus on anxiety, relationship and attachment concerns, life transitions, identity, sexual wellness and intimacy, and the ways earlier experiences continue to show up in the present.
My work in the healing professions began a decade ago with training in crisis intervention, and my clinical background has included community crisis work, outpatient care, and half a decade of private-practice psychotherapy. I earned my master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Northern Colorado and have continued my training in areas that deepen my work with relationships and attachment. I have completed all three parts of Attachment-Focused EMDR training through the Parnell Institute and Level 1 training in the Gottman Method for couples therapy.
I am committed to creating a therapeutic space that is culturally responsive, inclusive, sex-positive, and affirming of gender and sexuality. I welcome the complexity of identity and believe meaningful therapy requires curiosity about the cultural, relational, and systemic contexts in which each person lives. My hope is that you experience therapy as a place where you do not have to edit important parts of yourself in order to belong.
